I don't even know where to start...
Not to start this blog on a low note, but one of the most special people I have ever had the pleasure to know passed away the day before Luis and I went to Cancun. My Auntie Ethel in Australia, who should be nominated for saint-hood, was truly a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many. All who knew her were blessed and this is a tremendous loss...
Saturday of last week, Luis and I made our Mexican adventure down to Cancun. I had issues with my bags getting though security, we hit naaaaasty turbulence, Luis got bribed coming into Mexico, and we stayed at quite possibly the coolest hotel in the world. It is an all-inclusive resort, which literally means ALL-inclusive...food, alcohol, everything. We felt like VIP's.
Sunday: Beached it at the hotel
Monday: Chichen Itza
Tuesday: Isla Mujeres and scuba diving and rented a moped and drove around the town
Wednesday: Jungle Tour - had our own 2-person cigarette boat. My hot boyfriend captained the vessel through mangroves and into the ocean where we tied up the boats and jumped off the bow and snorkeled. After dinner, we fell asleep together in a lounge chair on the beach - HOT!
Thursday: Mini-golf & parasailing and just relaxing by the pool (re-charging our batteries, as Luis put it)
Friday: Xcaret - a natural park with archeology, beach stuff, animals, botanical gardens, etc. we sNuba-ed (picture snorkeling with a regulator) 16-20 feet below the surface of the water and floated through an underground river. At the end of the night we watched a Mayan culture show with Dancing and the history of Mexico. Topped off the night with a memorable walk on the beach :)
Saturday: Headed back to OC, but not without comedy. Our shuttle got us to the airport with barely enough time to get through everything. Get to Miami and are delayed on the runway for an hour due to weather. struggled through customs, had a mishap with our connecting flight, and to make a long story short, we got bumped up to first class back to LA. Amazing experience! Good food, movies, kicking back in the awesomely HUGE chairs...it was lovely...
All in all, I had a wonderful time. Aside from a couple of personal issues I was facing while I was there, it couldn't have been better. I was in paradise with the guy I love...
