The weekend is so close, I can smell it...

I have had an interesting few days. Tuesday night Molly and I had girlie night. In an attempt to go to the beach, we realized that the fog was rolling in exponentially and the temperature at the water was a good 12 degrees cooler than at our house. so, we opted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and drinks. Molly got the urge to sing Karaoke and through a shot or so and some coercing, she got me to get up there with her and sing "I touch myself' by the dyvinyls...probably one of the most humiliating, yet hillarious moments in my life. we were hysterically laughing throughout our stellar performance. ahh...
Before that, we watched an old 80's movie that featured John Stamos (post-mullet hair) as a pimp. Too good! Best line of that movie : "I'm not talking to you, PIMP!" hahaha...(had to see it to appreciate the hillarity of the scene).

Last night was the OC at Richard's friend's posh house in turtle rock. damn, I can only hope I have a house that hot someday in my life. They even had a Mario Bros. arcade game in the living room! After, I went home to find Molly and her friend Edie watching a bootlegged copy of "KIll Bill v.2" from China...random...hung out for a few minutes and bailed...I was exhausted...

Word on the street is my parents are en route to san diego...I am confused...

Cross your fingers for me -- I have to (re) take a test on saturday and if I don't pass, I am officially the world's biggest idiot...I give everyone lisence to refer to me as such if I fail again.

Oh, side bar...our dishwasher flooded our kitchen yesterday while i was at work. Aparently it was a spectacle...somewhat sorry i missed it...

today is one of those monkey days...you know, where i am doing work a monkey can do...and I have been busy all day but I know comes to 5 pm i will have nothing to show for it

I am making time to blog, as it may be the only real break I get all day (unless I can sneak off to Starbucks for a 10 minute sunshine & coffee break...)

Weekend was fun!
Friday: El Pollo Loco, hanging out with the boys in Santa Ana

Saturday: Breakfast @ Coco's in Corona del Mar with the hottest guy in the world. Shopping for an MP3 player. Beer break at Karl Strauss and some good chats. BBQ for Dan's birthday. Shotgunning beers. Bad behavior. Going to sleep

Sunday: Broasted Chicken. went to work for 2 hours on a sunday (and a whole lotta "good" it did me...). drove to Brea to hang with Silvia at a bar. Went to Santa Ana and had BBQ salmon with my dude. Walked to Dairy Queen and enjoyed the warm night. went to sleep early...

Monday: ran my ass off at work, went home, cooked, waited on a tech support call with t-mobile for almost 40 minutes, did laundry, passed out early...

Today: running my ass off even more at work. Possible roommate girly hangout night tonight...that is, unless Molly forgot...

Really trying hard to be a patient and kind person to those who annoy me...so far it is working okay...

My attempt at being a happier person has been paying off -- when I get stressed, it fades instead of me hanging on to it and channeling it into other aspects of my life

I am finding more things to smile about in life, rather than be frustrated all the time...

Life is good.

4.23.2004

Damn...after having been in the good graces of my boss for a while, I think I managed to irritate her this morning. I came in 10 mintues late -- the second time this week I have been notably not at my desk at 8:01am...and I don't think she liked it one bit...oops...Guess I gotta come in early next week to make up for my mishaps...

So, on wednesday I went out with Don and Vanessa and Luis to Z'Tejas to have some yummy dinner and margaritas. Good times...after we ate, we went to TGI Fridays for some more drinks and just to hang out and chat...it was fun.

Last night my company had its 2 year anniversary dinner at a mexican restaurant called Javier's in Laguna Beach. The food was good, as were the margaritas...after dinner, Luis and I decided to go to the Hotel Laguna and have a drink by the beach. After, we went and walked around the beach...went to corona del mar in search of something cool...found it, but decided to leave...drove around for a bit and then went back to my house...I started to feel sick and called it a night.

Today is friday and I am not sure what I am doing this weekend...so much potential, I just hope it all pans out...I feel like being chill and hanging out with people this weekend...we shall see what happens.

Side notes: Luis shaved the chops :-( I was sad...I snaked a cool mini bottle of tequila with a cork top -- souvineer...I am ready for the weekend...found out that one of my coworkers is just as into the OC as we are -- she even has a friend that writes a WEEKLY COMMENTARY on the show!!

that's it...now I gotta work...

word...

High heels suck ass...

red suite was a triumph in making me feel cool. :)

Cannot wait to go home...

More good news today -- I feel like a weight has been lifted...

4.20.2004

Okay, so first things first -- the big news from yesterday: i got a pretty fat raise at work, which made me smile. Aparently, I am getting it early too, which is even better.

Weekend update:
Friday - dinner with Luis, Eric & Yvonne at Tenko in Irvine and then a viewing of "Kill Bill v.2". Like the movie, not such a fan of the restaurant.

Saturday - got my hair done and drove for 2 and a half hours in squall-like weather down to San Diego. At times I could barely see the road -- it was intense. Once down there, I hung out with my Dad in his temporary Coronado digs. Went to a 3 hour dinner with 2 of his friends, where we proceded to drink 2 and a half bottles of wine, a beer each, dinner, dessert, espresso and sambucca. Intense...My dad's friends are hillarious!

Sunday - Drove around the island of Coronado. Viewed my Dad's ships from a distance. Checked out (what we could as civilians) the naval amphibious base (hot!) and the USS Mercy, which is a naval hospital ship. Then, Dad and I got a hienekin some grub and walked around a classic car show. I was (yet again) amazed by my Dad's knowlegde of classic cars. By 2:45, I was on my way back to the Orange Curtain. Luis came over and we did Laundry and made pizza from scratch.

Monday - just hung out. Cooked dinner for Luis and watched an old Mike Myers movie: "So I Married an Axe Murderer".

Today - must work out!! As I was eating a bag of cheetos today, i suddenly felt (and even though i know I am not) fat...must be in fabulous bathing suit shape by summer...which doesn't leave me much time...

Funniest "had-to-be-there" moment of the weekend: "Yeah, I'm not feelin the waiter so much, but I kinda think he is feelin' me..." spoken by an ex-navy man...hillarious.

Sidenote: was a bit saddened that this was the first wayzgoose in 5 years that i had not had the pleasure of going to...let alone working at...it was strange, but all part of the moving on process. i was so tempted to go check it out, but the weather prompted me to do otherwise...and I am glad...i miss being in school so much, but i have to accept the fact that life moves forward, not retrograde...

Gemini Style:
Gemini's can drink without changing their behaviour
much -- they're so naturally chatty and
short-attention-spanded that its just hard to
tell sometimes. they can amaze you by
conversing with finesse and allusions, then
doing something to belie an extremely advanced
state of intoxication, like puking in your
shoe. Gemini's possess the magic ability to
flirt successfully (and uninfuriatingly, which
is very tricky) with several people at once.
they like to order different cocktails every
round -- repetition is boring -- and may create
a theme (like yellow drinks: beer, sauvignon
blanc and limoncello) for their own amusement.

How to describe today in a word: EXHAUSTED

How to summarize NoFX:
vodka
skipping with Alyssa to the Bren
Going into the pit
Being thrust in every direction with the crowd
Spending some time on the ground
Losing my shoe
Losing Luis's glasses
sobering up real quick by realizing this has been a crap week
walking back to Dustin's wearing one of Luis's shoes
goin to Del Taco for my Del Classic fix
Driving Luis to Santa Ana
crashing on the bed and sleeping until the alarm

Today: sore as hell and covered in bruises

damn...i need to become one of those people that just relies on public transportation, a bike, or my own freakin two feet from now on! I just want to get a car at some time in my life that isn't going to give me random grief....

4.12.2004

Well, well, well...

This weekend was eventful...

I got off early on thursday afternoon and spent some quality time with my fella in the afternoon. Was treated to dinner by Silvia in Brea and then made it to the pub for int'l student night for some beer and conversation. was pleasantly surprised to hang out with shannon -- it felt like old times.

Friday morning made some grub breakfast and talked to my mom on the phone for almost 3 hours -- not even sure i have ever been on the phone that long at one time before, but it was a good chat. Met up with Luis, Dustin, Katie, Thomas and Mat for lunch at Commons and then headed to the pub with Dustin for a post-lunch pitch in honor of his birthday. Around 4 or so, I cruised down to spend some time with gran & papa for good friday dinner. i need to go down there more and spend some good time down there. i have some concerns about time...After dinner, i drove to Dustin's to pick up the party. We headed to Malarky's in Newport and only Dustin and I ventured in...Thomas, Andy and Luis hadn't had dinner, so they hit up Laventina's while we had a couple of beginning drinks. Okay, so I am convinced the newport freaks were all at Malarky's that night...We met up with a teacher of Dustin's from Half Moon Bay, who was really chill -- we chatted about studying english and philosophy -- and yet again, i was inspired to go into teaching...I randomly got my cosmopolitan spilled all over my white shirt and my foot stomped on by this guy (who I am convinced he believes he is the next big white rapper)...One of the first things he tells people is how well endowed he is and that he works in the porn industry and that he is all coked out blah, blah, blah...When this guy realized he trampled my toes he gets down on the floor and starts to stroke my foot...I was grossed out and tried to shoo him away...After finishing my stronger than strong yet cheap drink (i think the bar tender liked me and kinda hooked me up), we met up with group, which by this time had pleasantly grown to include Eric, Yvonne, and Mat. We all made a mass exodus to HB to Redz, where we met up with Daren and Matty (Dustin's brother and friend). Afer sufficient drunkeness was achieved and a run to Del Taco was made, it was time to call it a night.

Saturday: Commons for brunch, cleaning, laundry, hanging out with Luis.

Sunday: EASTER! interesting to say the least. I actually dragged my ass to church, which was much needed. With things the way they are right now, I am super glad I went with G&P. Went to my Aunt and Uncle's house -- dinner was grub -- except for when i spilled practically my whole glass of white wine on my cousin's "sorta-boyfriend"...awkward...The dinner was missing my aunt tina and Nolan and Jordan, but it was still great to see everyone.

My dad is coming this weekend and my mom will be here the following week!! I am gonna go party like a rockstar with my dad on saturday in san diego i think. :) i am pretty stoked-- he has his own apartment right now!!

Today, out come what is left of the stiches in my mouth...ouch...

More to come later...

On a side note: I have the coolest boyfriend in the world!! :)

And now, back to my regularly scheduled work day....

4.06.2004

Okay, lots to talk about and only a brief moment available to update the blog...

I went "under the knife" on friday for my damn wisdom teeth. Not as bad as I was expecting, actually...Just really freaking uncomfortable. I am 4 days "post surgery" and beginning to eat like a civilized person again -- and although still a bit sore & chipmunk like, not as bad as before.

Saturday: In a vicodin haze for most of the day. Talked Molly into "having the stomach flu" and hanging out with me on the couch. Later that night, Luis, Molly and I went to see "Walking Tall" at the theatres by my house. It was pretty entertaining -- and yes, it is Johnny Knoxville in it...I lost yet another bet. :)

Sunday was the BBQ at the new 1332. Great! Saw some cool people I haven't seen in a while. AND, Meera brought me flowers AND Luis's mom made me a little bag of her almohabanas -- I am so spoiled!! After watching Fabio do a keg stand (good show!) and watching Thomas challenge others to contort and everyone trying to kill the keg, it was time to call it a night. It was the quintessential BBQ -- thanks fellas!

Monday I was told to go home early because I looked very swollen and terrible. Instead of taking offense, I happily took off. I rented 2 movies and bought myself some take out from EL POLLO LOCO and then commenced to finish a 2 piece meal with 3 sides...not eating for 3 days can make a girl nuts!! Luis came over and we watched "Gothika" (creepy flick), then an episode of "Family Guy" and then it was bed time.

Mom comes back from England today. Parents not sure if they will come to San Diego anymore...I am bummed and don't really feel like flying to portland this weekend...but...
i get friday off and on thursday i get off at 1pm!! SWEET!! and, to make matters sweeter, I am allowed to wear jeans all week to work! HELL YEAH!!

semantically aesthetic quote of the week "I cannot forget -- refuse to regret -- that somehow I met you..."

ahhh...I am inspired to write creatively for the first time in months...
