My favorite song of the week (and perhaps most fitting): "Where is My Mind?" By The Pixies...

It is official - I passed my notary exam!!

Although, today, I have been called a bimbo to my face, had stuff thrown at me at my desk, and been talked down to for a majority of the day...But,  all in all, I am feeling pretty good. I am a fraction away from telling people to screw off...I realized I don't have to put up with anyone's shit anymore...That is a liberation in itself...Look out, I am on the market for a change - one of my own initiating, of course...

New CD's purchased this week: "The Enemy Strikes First" by Bad Religion; "Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid" by Elefant; and "The Moon is Down" by Further Seems Forever...Love them all...

Last night watched "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" at The Village Theatre

Tried to talk to Luis's Aunt on the phone but failed to complete my thoughts...must have sounded like an idiot...

This weekend, going to the fair! Should be fun!

Changes in my life: Molly is moving out...sooner than I had hoped...Julie may take her place...

All in all, things are getting better...I will not let frustration get in the way of my happiness :)

I have had a really great weekend - the kind that opens your eyes and changes your perspective on things. My mom and I hung out and talked about our lives and the people in it...it was a really great couple of days. My dad would come home from work and we would chill outside on the patio and talk till almost midnight. Both parents were very encouraging with regards to my frustrations and concerns in this "adult" life I am supposedly leading, which truly made me feel better. My mom even sat at the computer with me, helped me re-tool my resume, and I applied for a new job online. I did it more to see if I would get any bites...while I was home, we shopped for my dad's birthday (53!) and picked up some goodies for my trip to Cancun (the usual travel stuff - I bought it up there with no sales tax and overall cheaper prices!). We also went to the zoo in the afternoon (my mom is a patron and we get free admission), which was so much fun! i think it is the little kid in me, but I love going to the zoo. I had some drama getting home, but that was mostly my fault (my ticket was voided somehow and i had to rearrange my flight back and almost lost my bags at the airport and i think someone bumped my car in the airport parking lot and i got back to work late...it was rough...).

Last night Molls and I hung out. We went to Tower Records so I could pick up a couple of CD's and then drove around and bought some boba...it was really fun...went home and watched a movie.  Molly and I decided to be each other's date tonight after work and go see "The Bourne Identity" - looking forward to it!

1 month till cancun...

the countdown begins...

Word of the day:

"Tszuj (Pronounced "zhoozh") To tweak, finesse or improve. "

(Taken from an article off of MSN)

I want to incorporate this in to my daily vocab :-)

Last night I hung out with Jules, Deme, & Molly and had a total: "Sex and the City" moment...We went to the Clubhouse for martinis and we gossiped and checked out the Manolo Blahnik & Jimmy Choos that had been purchased by the aforementioned attendees. It was rad!

So, I have had this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach all day...Not bad as in "I ate bad food"...but bad as in "something bad is going to happen"...and frankly, I would prefer it to be the first feeling over the second...I don't know why or what it is but it is really bothering me...So, please, to all my friends and family - please be safe and well!!

I am so ready to be done with work for the day...On a positive side, the day flew by as i was insanely busy for the majority of it. Had lunch with Molly at Fashion Island, which was fun.

Last night I analyzed the quirks of the folks in my marketing class - myself included.  I vowed never again to drink the gymangous-sized soda from Jack in the Crack before class - no matter how thirsty I am - 20 minutes into the class I thought my bladder was going to explode. I learned that there are some "hygenically challenged" folks in my class and that I should not sit behind the dude that always wears plaid because he can't stop fidgeting and bumping into my desk which forces me to write illegibly (and my writing is pretty bad as it is).  And, when my instructor talkes about an organization as a "cash cow" he follows the phrase with "moo" every time in a low voice, which kept cracking me up.  I am finding it challenging to want to go home and study and do homework and all that academic-ish...I need to get back into it though, because no matter how lazy I am, it feels damn good to dust off my brain and put it to some use.  Lord knows that isn't happening at work - or much of anywhere else, for that matter.

I have been really feeling confident in myself lately, which is a step in the right direction. Don't get me wrong, I have always had a strong sense of self and confidence, but lately it has felt different. Not sure what I have changed in my life, but I am liking it thus far. It seems as though things are coming into focus for me for the first time in a long while and instead of being scared, I am embracing life.

One month from tomorrow, I will be on a plane - with my hot boyfriend by my side - on our way to Cancun...I cannot wait for the vacation...counting the days before I live the Corona commercial...

"I don't wanna be anything other than what I'm trying to be lately"

I liked this quote...

The weekend in a nutshell:

Friday: Went to Happy Hour at the University Club with Andy & Thomas and had a couple o' Captians & Coke. Got a phone call from my fella in Colombia, which absolutely brightened my weekend!! Went to Taco Bell and then home to study for the notary exam.

Saturday: Paid some bills at Fashion Island, had a muffin and latte at Starbucks and then drove to Fullerton to take my exam. Hit up Fullerton City College, which let me say is a quite expansive campus...Encountered some sheltered and truly lame people also in the room for the exam...(these were the types of people that ask a million ascenine questions that are completely obvious and drive everyone else in the room nuts...) After my test, I went to Brea Mall to walk around and window shop and grab some lunch. I ate by myself in the food court, which didn't bother me really, but people kept giving me funny looks. No biggie to me...After the mall, I went grocery shopping and went home to take a nap. After I cooked dinner, I met up with Andy and Thomas and 5 of his friends from Denmark (or should I say Danmark?!)  :)  They are all very nice and sweet guys and it was fun to have the opportunity to share stories and get to know some new folks.  We ventured over to The Helm in Newport for some beers and conversation. We were greeted by the overwhelming odor of piss and vomit upon entrance to the bar, but after a while it lessened in severity.  We were entertained by semi trucks racing down dirt roads and other great american television. Went home shortly after last call...

Sunday: Did absolutely nothing...Cleaned my bathroom, did some laundry, chilled. I had a massive headache for a majority of the day, so I layed low. (and no, it was far from a hangover - it was allergies...accompanied by the burning eyes and scratchy throat...no good)...Molly and I had movie night and i baked cookies when she got home from Nordstrom's which was cool. We watched "Secret Window" (which is really good!) and "Bad Santa" (which is really slow).

Tonight: Class...I am not feeling it, but hopefully I will get an energy boost before I need to leave.

This week will most likely be busy: hanging out with Silvia, trying to catch up with Julia, Flashback movie night on Wednesday, Home to Portland on friday...

This weekend it seemed everywhere I went and everything I did there was something that reminded me of Luis...I miss him lots...I can't wait for Cancun...

Betcha didn't know that I can now add "Tech Support" to the many hats I wear at work! I swear...I honestly feel like the hampster in the small spinning cage that runs its ass off and believes it is running toward something, but in actuality is going nowhere...alas, it is the same ole' sob story...and I really need to get over myself...i complain so much, but do you see me doing anything about it (besides bitching in my blog)? N-O...which is essentially making the whole situation worse really...I need to asses and mend the problem, not the blame...The onous, therefore, is on me...

Since I am on the topic of bitching, I might as well keep going: the tech guy really got under my skin today. Normally he is a fairly nice fella that fixes my shit when I do something wrong. But today he had the ego and the balls to act condescending toward me...that is, by far, my biggest pet peeve...There is no excuse for condescension - NONE...grrr...It would have been one thing if I was acting like a dumb ass, but the questions I was asking were legit for someone who isnt a computer nerd by profession (no offense to my many friends that work with computers - none of you are like this guy). As a matter of fact, the type of installation I was doing he should have done...In addition to my fixing the master computer/slight server ineptitude the other day, I am a smidge proud of my technical efforts...

Dude, I forgot to mention one of the strangest (yet profitable) occurances of the weekend! On my way to pick Silvia up to go to Vegas, I ducked into Lens Crafters to pick up my glasses (the lenses had a flaw in them which produced these large teardrop shaped cracks right down the center of my eyeline). When the sales assistant was cleaning what were to be my fixed lenses, I noticed that the problem had seemingly happened yet again. Frustrated (but at this point keeping my cool) I noted loudly that this was an unacceptible situation, as when I walked out their door, I was leaving the state. The lead technician comes out from the back and sits down in front of me and starts to do the typical customer service schtick: "I am terribly sorry for your inconvenience and this shouldn't have happened...blah...blah...blah..." Upon reiterating that I was leaving town, he began to ask where I was going and what hotel I was staying in...As perplexed as I was, I obliged him the info. He thus offered to ship me my glasses, but that was a bit extreme. I was able to bargain my way into an extended warranty on my glasses which took the edge off my irritation and allowed me to settle to pick them up on monday. At which point, the tech asks me if I like to go clubbing. I was somewhat appaled that this dude was not only trying to save his ass over his company's heinous oversight, but that he sounded like he was asking me out! (not cool...) I think it was at this point that he realized how his question came across (perhaps it was my furrowed eyebrows that gave it away) and backtracked very quickly to say that he works for Club Vegas in Costa Mesa and he wanted to give me 4 VIP passes as an extended apology. He gave me his name and told me if/when I go to ask for him and he will hook us up...I took the passes and said my thanks. Just before I was ready to leave, he looks at the tray that my glasses were in and notices that what are supposed to be the old lenses looked to be the new ones. He goes into the back, switches out the lenses and low and behold they are fixed...all that aggrivation for nothing...I left for sin city with new glasses, club passes, and a cup o' coffee from starbucks...

On another note, last night I went to dinner with Eric, Yvonne, Dustin, Andy & Thomas as a farewell to those who were Europe-bound. I went to put my purse in Luis's room when we got back from dinner so it was out of the way and it felt so weird...Up until that point, I had missed him tons, but at that moment, I missed him even more...I hope he is having an amazing time in Colombia and I can't wait to hear all about it! :-)

Tonight: "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"...
Tomorrow: Need to study for the notary and buy my books for the marketing class I signed up for yesterday...

Cripes! Records were broken this weekend, personally speaking...
It is time for a weekend review before the experiences fade from memory...

Friday: Got off work at noon to gather my belongings for Vegas, get my glasses fixed, and spend some time with Luis. Drove to Diamond Bar and hung out with him and his family for most of the afternoon, keeping him company while getting ready for his pilgrimage to Colombia for 5 weeks...I got a bit more emotional than I had expected, but it is understandable. After a tearful farewell, I got a call from my grandparents and needed to go see them.

Saturday: Picked up Silvia and drove to LAX to catch our flight to Vegas. Drinks and delays and we finally arrive. Got an unexpected phone call from Colombia, which made me happier than ever. Drank a yard of "190 Octane" from Fat Tuesdays, took a shot of Vodka and the night began with a bang! Silvia and I walked the strip, gambled some ("Let's win a car!!", asked random people to break large denominations of money, got some free drinks, obtained some mardi gras beeds, bought "blow pop" socks (because in a drunken stupor they are the coolest shit!), went to the Monte Carlo buffet ("I am craving MEAT") and had an enormous carnivorous feast, got ready to go clubbin, and HIT THE STRIP! We started our night with the goal to close what ever club we ended up partying at, which was going to be between 4 & 6 in the morning. We went to Coyote Ugly first, and after a jello shot and a stiff drink Silvia and I hopped up on the bar and danced. While up there, the bartender girls gave us two shots (actually they just poured alcohol down our throats with a speed-pour. feeling tipsier than before (mind you copious amounts of alcohol have already been consumed) we headed over to RA at the Luxor. We met up with Silvia's friends and began to dance our hearts out! I felt a little strange at first dancing, but then Silvia's engaged friend came up and asked me to dance, as he knew i was taken and I knew he was taken, so it was a safe bet. We had our share of skeezy boys trying to get "all up in our grills" and we envoked a code to get the away when they weren't respoding to us. At one point we literally had to push them out of our way. We made it to closing time of the club and stumbled back to our room around 5am. (that is after we got sidetracked and somehow ended up outside in the back alley of Excalibur.
My cell phone rang at 6:47am, which was about an hour and 47 minutes after I passed out in my bed. I was pissed, as by the time i got to it, the person hung up and didnt leave a message and the number was blocked. my still-drunk ass realized that i was exceptionally nauseous and tried to go back to sleep...but, my efforts were in vain and i layed awake begging for death (feeling under the weather and all).

We made it out our room apropriately for checkout, grabbed grub, walked to strip, took a cab, took the new airport train to our terminal, walked our sore feet down to the LAST possible gate in the terminal, and made our trek home (which was absolutely a comedy of errors...)

I fell asleep last night on my couch at 9:30pm with a piece of pizza in my hand. Silvia and I added up that we were gone for 28 straight hours and partied for 26 of them with no break. good shit...

funny quotes:

"Let's go back to the freakin' CRV!"
"I see SPA, but no RA!"
"What did he slip in your drink!"
"Dude, buddy, you are not getting the hint - bye!"
"Cuuuuuuulooooooooooooooooo"
"shit! blow pop socks! do they match my beads!"
"I am too crunk to even hold my effing fork..."
"okay, Mullet means you're lame"
"razzle dazzle is the next big thing"

I am just sick of it all....my job and all that it entails....if I have to ask one more person "How do you take your coffee?" I am going to puke...I didn't bust my ass for 4 years in college to be someone's caffiene bitch...and don't get me started on making travel arrangements and seat assignments - ARUGHHHHHH!!!!! People need to get over themselves...

It feels like it has been ages since last I blogged. Let's see...

Last week I saw both "Dodgeball" and "The Terminal". The first was not as good as the latter...

This weekend was pretty packed. Friday, Luis and I purchased and booked our Cancun trip!! So exciting! We are leaving on the 21st of August (just one week after he gets back from Colombia) and returning on the 28th. We booked a sweet "all-inclusive" deal that includes air, hotel, food, drink, and some activities. I am so excited!!!

Saturday Julia came down and she, Luis and I went to see Steve Miller at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre (Irvine Meadows). SO HOT! I mean, he had aged considerably since the last Steve Miller show I had been to, but the dude still puts on an amazing concert!! We tailgated in the parking lot and drank while at the show. We created the Steve Miller Band drinking game, in which we drank to mullets and other great spectacles view by people watching. The concert concluded with a fireworks show and we were off to Jack in the Box. We grubbed, watched a drunk frat boy puke in the trash can outside (after hitting on a high school chick) and a patron become thoroughly disgusted...ah, it was amusing.

Sunday, 4th of July, was pretty chill. In the morning, although we woke up a bit late, Molly, Jules, Luis and I tried to hit up the Huntington Beach Parade, but got there too late and couldnt find parking...so, we did the next best thing: went to IHOP and grubbed!! Came home and claimed some tables and a BBQ by the pool, drank some beers, and waited for everyone to come by. After a brief location change, we grilled burgers and ate fruit and cheesecake and stuff...After, Thomas, Julie, Julia, Luis and I hitched a ride to Balboa to check out the scene and ultimately view the fireworks. It was pretty interesting...lots of cops...lots of drunk people...not much clothing anywhere except on the 5 of us...too funny...we took a cab back to my place and hung out there for the rest of the night.

Monday was really chill as well. I spent my day with my Colombian, as he is getting ready to depart for 5 weeks. We walked to the grocery store by my house to buy some supplies and the went back home to cook breakfast. Watched a movie (or 2) on TBS and then decided to go to Best Buy and Frys to get a memory card for Luis's camera. Julie came by Luis's place after and we watched "Dazed and Confused" after being denied at trying to see "Spiderman" and finding that, yet again, it was sold out. (oh well)

Tonight is Julie's birthday at the Yard House! Should be fun!!

Vegas is this weekend...WHOO!! going to be insane!! I cant wait!! :-)
